Saturday Woodley’s, a furniture store in Longmont, had arranged to deliver some items between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.  In the morning Ken asked if I would like to do some jeeping on the rough mountain trails designated for such adventure.  I reminded him that we had a delivery that day and as long as were home by 3:00 p.m. I would like to go jeeping.

The trail we were on is specifically designated for 4-wheel vehicles and requires problem solving – where do I place the wheels so as not to become hopelessly stuck and require a tow truck to pull you out.  One of the neat things about jeeping is that you can visit quiet remote terrain and enjoy spectacular views, check out the wild flowers along the way because you are not traveling much above 5 miles an hour or less in some sections.  Well, you get the picture, we are having this lovely beautiful ride.  The day is sunny, warm, but not hot with a gentle breeze blowing when all of a sudden, the 1988 jeep just dies.  This happened once before  to Ken as he was on his way to catch a plane.  Well, it is 11:17 a.m.  We are miles away from home and to walk to the nearest road would take 3 hours or more. At this point you would be 25 to 30 miles from home and  would have to hitchhike.  Did we have a cell phone with us, yes, but there is no tower to transmit.  So at certain locations you could not communicate even if you tried.  We were discussing this dilemma when a fellow on a 4 wheel off road vehicle approached us (on this single track dirt road).  We discussed our problem with him and he suggested Ken remove the air filter, saying you vehicle may not be getting enough oxygen.  Ken tried this and wonder or wonders, the jeep started.  So very gratefully we once again continued on our way.

We did not do the trip Ken had hoped to do and shortened the adventure.  Would I like to do this again, sure….but with a reliable vehicle.

We did arrive home in time for the, Woodley’s delivery.  In this delivery there were  3 bar stools to replace our existing ones.  Our counter here is much higher than the counter top on Diamond Ledge and with the old stools you felt like you were a child and were close to chin level with your dish.  You could lick the plate real easy.

Ken will be installing blinds in our guest bedroom #1, which faces west, and the honeycomb window treatments in our west windows.  We have discovered that it gets very hot when the sun streams in the windows.  This should cool the second floor considerably.

Friday, I met a couple of friends at 6:30 a.m. and we hiked up Mt. Sanitis in Boulder.  The ascent is straight up with wonderful views.  It is amazing how many developed walking/hiking/biking/horse trails are available to all who wish to use them and they are used.  On the descent there were several enormously large homes  probably over 1 ˝ million to perhaps 3 million dollars properly situated to take advantage of the spectacular views.  Boulder does have some very high priced properties.

Boulder has several music/theatre interests and just today I booked seating for the Mary Rippon Shakespeare Theatre(an outdoor theatre) for July 25  to see the Merry Wives of Windsor.  On July 25th we have tickets to see and hear a Mozart performance with a pianist by the name of Gilad.

One of the next fun things I must do is get on the web and check into the Cheyenne, Wyoming rodeo days which begin July 24th through August 1.  They have 9 rodeo performances and we would like to catch one of these.  Cheyenne being approximately 1 ˝ hours drive from here is a very doable trip.

Well, I guess that’s all for now.
