Artist Statement

Our move to Colorado began my journey into the art world.  What a wonderful feeling to express yourself on canvas.  I work in three mediums, pastels, oils and acrylics.  I must admit that I have developed a particular love for pastels. Pastels lend themselves to vibrant color.  What is really gratifying is to convey on canvas a feeling, an expression of the scene, weather, and mood.  The painting is really an extension of yourself and how you see the world.

I am a representational artist.  I am inspired daily by what I see.  It can be sun glistening off a flower petal, a dewdrop on a leaf, a street scene or a meadow view.  Whatever the scene, I intuitively transpose the mood and the feeling to my canvass.  I see my canvass comes alive with color and excitement.

If I can reach the viewer with the same inspiration that caught my eye I feel I have succeeded.

Gardening, another love of mine, is creation on the canvas of mother earth. Many of my floral paintings are subjects frrom my garden.   Music, too, is vital in my life.  The evening is set aside for my piano, another mode of expression.  I have a passion for life and try to enjoy each day to the fullest.
